I decided to build my maintenance stand on 2X4 I had left over from another project. Only to discover it was a “stud” 2X4 that is narrower than would have liked. There are enough holes in the bracket that they attached just fine but I feel like a wider board would be more supportive. So my advice would be to take the bracket with you to the lumber supply before buying wood for the project.
